Dear *NSYNC,

4.27.2012

Today I comemerate you. Not only because you are still my favorite boy band of all time, but it is the THIRTEENTH anniversary of my first concert. To see *NSYNC on tour for their first CD. And what a great CD it was...

Tearin' Up My Heart
I Just Wanna Be With You
Here We Go
For The Girl Who Has Everything
God Must Have Spent A Little More Time On You
You Got It
I Need Love
I Want You Back
Everything I Own
I Drive Myself Crazy
Crazy For You
Sailing

With my best friend Sarah. And our best friend mothers. I can still remember leaving school early in my black leggings and oversized N*Sync shirt, matching with Sarah of course. Driving to Boise, Idaho for a little T.G.I.F. and then straight to the concert. Standing on the bleachers, even though it was not allowed, because we were in the very back row with binoculars. Loving every single moment. And then trying to leave only to be stopped on the main concourse by the flames that lit up the stage for the encore! WHAT A NIGHT?!

So here is to you *NSYNC... Chris with that soulful voice, Lance with those beautiful eyes, Joey with that manly facial hair, Justin with those blond curls that melt a woman's heart, and JC, you gorgeous man. May that night live forever! I love you now and I love you forever.

Love,
Deidre

Dear Sarah Bevan,

4.26.2012

Sarah Scissor Cut, Navy Wolverine, Thing 1, and my dear dear bestie... I wish thee a HAPPY birthday. Welcome to the 23 club... the year in which we represent Michael Jordan's number. Welcome to a year in which you feel like you are older but you are still treated like a child. Where you are old enough to do almost anything you want except rent a car. Welcome to a day of celebration... and I mean SERIOUS celebration since I am coming home toooo-niiiiiight! Wuzzzzup baby!?

Okay. But above all things. Let me honor you this day with all the good you have brought in my life. All the laughter, the inside jokes, the tears, the stories... Thank you for giving me a reason to steal a Lion King head scarf to clean up a mess. Thank you for being the one person that will always, without fail, accompany on a 9 Beans run! Thank you for your good nature and your reminder of what true friendship is. Thank you for letting me call you for no reason. Thank you for letting me text you one word and you know exactly what I mean. Thank you for understanding what I am saying by just looking at my face. Thank you for being so cute and trendy all the time. Thank you for dressing up every year for Halloween with me... and for going trick or treating even though we were seniors. Thank you for always singing duets with me, on key and off key, as well as singing to the people walking on the streets. Thank you for reminding me of my value when I am down in the dumps. Thank you for taking pictures with me always... and making them funny. Thank you for being my friend through it all.

I appreciate the woman you are. Always strong in your ways and never wavering. I am grateful to have a friend that is so firm and strong and doesn't take crap from anyone! A woman that is comfortable in her own skin. A good daughter and an even better sister. I admire the way you are with people. Everyone wants to be around you because of your attitude and spunk. I am grateful for a friend that doesn't hold onto the bad times and only looks for the good times. You are an incredible women. And I am lucky to have been with you through it all. I love you so much Sarah Bevan, and I am lucky to call you my best friend. The BEST best friend a girl could ever ask for. Happy birthday to you and many happy memories ahead!

Love,
Deidre

Dear 7 Questions,

4.25.2012

7 questions! Buckle up baby because here we go!

1. You are stuck somewhere you really don't want to be, do you- walk home, call a friend, or stick it out?
One of two options… usually I will text a friend, “Hi. Can you please call me and get me a reason to leave here?” As discretely as possible. Or I stick it out and play Angry Birds and Draw Something. Draw Something a little more because it takes one million games to get 249 coins for a new color pallet! Thank the heavens for the graduation gift of an iPhone!

2. Do you like to PLAY sports?
Yes. I like to play sports. Am I incredibly bad at every single one? Yes. Ms. Stoeger, my plastic surgeon doesn't want me doing any activity where balls fly at my nose.Clueless anyone? Either way… I get terrified of getting hit. And once, if at all, I am over that I am so-so decent.

3. Everyone has that one "different" song that they secretly love- what's yours?
Without a doubt P.Y.T… for you non MJ, Michael Jackson may he rest in peace, lovers… Pretty Young Thing. It is my JAM! It is my favorite song to practice my swimsuit walk to… or invision myself being a little sassy. And if you catch me listening to it in my car (along with a list of other select songs) you will be embarrassed for me because of the faces and dance moves I will be doing. Don’t be though, because I am totally normal and not embarrassed at all. In fact, I will probably face you and sing directly to you through the windows.

4. What is one thing you feel you are really good at?
I am really good at watching Toddlers and Tiaras and eating cottage cheese. I am also really good at walking in high heels. But the thing I am best at? That would probably have to be public speaking. Sounds weird, right? But my favorite part of pageants is interview and getting to go give assemblies and speeches at public events. I have gotten really comfortable with speaking to large groups. If I could be a convention presenter and public speaker forever, I would.

5. A dog is running in your direction and barking loudly- what do you do?
Freeze. It is really all I can do. And if it comes at me, I will do any of the following: put my knee up in hopes that they will be hit in the jugular before they can eat my face, punt/dropkick/Frankenstein kick it, or frantically scurry away. But my 6 year old self that got dog-bitten broken skin always reminds me the knee or foot is a better option than the scurry.

6. Star gazing or cloud watching?
Star gazing. I love going camping and being away from all the city lights. The stars are most incredible when you are away from life.

7. What time of the day do you feel the most productive?
Right around… 6. Could be because that is my lucky number or it could be because that is when I get home and I can change into something comfy, eat what is sitting in my pantry, and get biii-zayyy.

Dear Jokes Needed,

4.24.2012

I am turning into a double blogger.... Define double blogger you say? Alright, I will, you don't have to bend my arm. A double blogger is a person who blogs twice in one day just because she can. Sometimes there is a valid reason for two blog posts and sometimes it is just because thoughts need to be let out. And usually a double blogger doesn't put much thought into one of the posts. It is more to just let off steam and let it all out for the world. And this is my blog so I decide to double blog today. And yesterday. But today for sure.

You know those days where you are just sick? Or maybe just tired? Or you have a headache? Or something is going wrong but it is just life saying, "this is going to go wrong and you can't fix it, so go about your business people"? Or __________________________ (fill in the blank with other emotions that require a good belly laugh and a Route 44 from Sonic)? Well. It is one of those days. I am sleep, and I have a headache, and life likes to throw curve balls... and hey, I haven't been at bat since t-ball!

So besides one of these...

I am going to need all the good jokes you got. JOKES NEEDED! All the jokes in the world. Give me the simple, the thinkers, the cheesy, the not so funny but if someone with a funny laugh laughs I will think it is funny, the quick, the long, the short, the child jokes... Jokes, jokes, jokes. Why so serious!? Not only will they help get the chuckles out but they will also be going into my next craft project. Come on people. Give me the giggles!

Love,
Deidre

P.S. Did I mention I want you to share your jokes. ALL of them. Please and thank you.

I Been Workin' On My Fitness.

After my discrete "P.S." on last week's post a majority of my comments have been directed towards hearing about Miss Idaho. So I figured the time has come (the walrus said, to think of many things) to include you all in my pageant preparation. So lets look at the first issue at hand. Fitness... seriously? Why do I have to wear a swimsuit on stage?! At least I have the choice between a one and a two piece. I have nothing against you Mr. Two Piece suit... but I am just getting comfortable with my body in a one piece. Give me 3 more months and I will rock a two piece on any stage. Who knew working out was such a long process!? Oh... that is right... everyone but me... So here you are, my progress from 2010 to 2011... I can't wait to see how I look on stage in 2012.

So even though I have seriously made leaps and bounds in the fitness area I still get very down on myself. I would hate to tell you "I love my body no matter what," when that is not true. Competing in pageants will take a toll on you. Especially when every day you see the head shots and fitness of the other contestants. They are beautiful girls and they are all working just as hard as me for the title of Miss Idaho. So my incredible boyfriend changed the background on my phone so I have a little motivation and so I know what he thinks about me, I have taken to eating like a rabbit, I have started some awesome fitness programs, and I hide things on Twitter and Facebook when I think they will make me feel bad.

The background Adam put on my phone as motivation.
He said, "Look at it, read it, and then say it EVERY day that I am gone."

My rabbit food... sprouts and carrots anyone?
I cannot WAIT for human food.

If I could teach you anything right now about pageants and preparation it is that.... It takes time! It takes four weeks for you to notice a change in your physical appearance, it takes your family and friends eight weeks, and it takes twelve weeks for the rest of the world to see. So... let's hope the judges are my friends! Oh. And if you want to know my workout plan, diet plan, or what I am doing.. I love to share!

Love,
Deidre

Dear Lasagna Rolls,

4.23.2012

You were delicious, if I do say so myself. And Adam and roommate Linda agreed! I am so glad that my combining of two recipes with my own alterations created something so delicious. I present to you... SPINACH CHICKEN LASAGNA ROLLS!

Spinach Chicken Lasagna Rolls
Makes approximately 10 rolls
10 lasagna noodles
1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese (or other cheese combinations)
1 tsp onion salt
1 tsp crushed red pepper
1/2 cup milk
2 cups spinach
2 chicken breasts
1 jar Prego
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Cook lasagna noodles
Cook chicken breasts and dice
Pour Prego sauce into 9x13 pan until entirely covered
Combine milk, cheese, onion salt, crushed red pepper, spinach, and chicken breast dices in a bowl
Spread 1/2 cup mixture over each noodle and roll up jelly-roll style
Place rolls into pan seam down
Once all the rolls are in the pan, pour the rest of the Prego sauce over the top, cover with tin foil, and place in oven for 30 minutes

After the 30 minutes, pull the rolls out, take off the cover, top with any leftover cheese if you desire, and enjoy!

I was really pleased with how they turned out. And they are delicious with a little french bread and salad... or whatever other side you want.

Love,
Deidre

Dear Movie Monday,

Bloggers... it's time... A quick and short one. But a movie!

Music: Black or White by Michael Jackson (ohhh  MJ.. may he rest in peace)

I got to see all my nephews and my niece (the youngest two are always asleep when the video camera comes out... I need to be better about that) this last week. I spent all Saturday with Grammy and Noah and they came out to watch Adam's baseball game last week against the Utes. Then I got to babysit Dallyn, Smith, Lars, Soren, and Lucy on Wednesday night. Aren't they the cutest!?

Love,
Deidre

Dear Relief Society,

I am so grateful that every Sunday I get the privilege of learning from the woman called to teach in Relief Society. This week the lesson was fantastic! It was all about the priesthood and how our Heavenly Father blesses us daily through the priesthood. The four things to remember were:

1. Be teachable an able to be directed
2. Be ready and worthy to act
3. Safe guard and treasure the priesthood
5. Learn, pray, serve, and obey

I am grateful for the priesthood in my life. I am grateful for men who are inspired to teach and can be the Lord's mouthpiece. I am grateful for modern day revelation. I am grateful for blessing of health and comfort. I am grateful for a father that was always worthy to use his priesthood and wanted to give me a blessing in times when I needed it most. I am grateful to be dating a man that believes the same principles and honors the same priesthood which has become so vital in my life. I know that the priesthood is part of the foundation of the church and that the miracles from the priesthood are real.

And on another note. I am grateful for Relief Society teachers that bring treats.

Dark chocolate and Relief Society? Yes please!

Love,
Deidre

Dear Send Something Good,

4.20.2012

I am doing this REALLY exciting thing called Send Something Good. At least I think it is really exciting... So I cannot wait to go shopping for my secret blog pal and send the best best best package in the entire world. But in the meantime I need to leave something for my secret blog pal so they can get to know me a little better.

Ten of my most favorite things:
1. Sequins and rhinestones
2. Caramel Apples
3. The color mint green, The color gold, and The color aquamarine
4. Aerobics because I hate just running but I love Zumba and Dancing
5. Flowers.. mostly Tulips and Sunflowers
6. Lace
7. Traveling and Adventures and Exploring
8. Playing dress up
9. Reading a new book
10. Elephants and Giraffes

So there you have it. Ten things that I really love. And when I say ten I mean more than ten since I made a handful of them a list rather than just one thing.... Sorry, not sorry. I am sure I could list one hundred other things I like (family, pageants, baseball, baking pies, cooking, rain, hikes, Disney, making movies, taking pictures, waterfalls...) but I won't (even though I just did) because I said only ten. This is getting awkward. Well. If you like what I like or if you want to know more let me know!

Love,
Deidre

P.S. I am getting ready for Miss Idaho... so if you could help a sister out!

Dear Mega-Millionaire Lottery,

4.19.2012

So we all remember when the lottery was up to $640 MILLION... well I want to take a few moments to honor that incredible lottery amount and my chance at half a million. Actually my chance at half a million, split 6 ways because I went into a pool at work. We all felt really good about our chances of winning... but alas... we did not. And all we have now is 6 non-winning lottery tickets. Cute. But let me tell you the story of the day I planned on quitting my job once I called in my winning lotto ticket.

There is a lady at my work that was convinced she would win, and her confidence helped my confidence... and our confidence helped four other ladies confidence. Our only problem? The fact that Utah doesn't believe in having a lottery because gambling is against the law here. Well luck just had it that I was heading up to Idaho the day of the drawing. Tickets are only $1 each. So each lady gave me $10 and sent me on my way to the big city! And when I say big city... I mean Idaho Falls, Idaho, just so your imagination doesn't run too wild. Driving into town I passed Malad, the first town over the border, and the line at the gas station to buy lottery tickets was AN HOUR LONG! What the!? This isn't the Peter Pan ride at Disneyland people... but then again, $640 million could buy you a house and season tickets to Disneyland for life, so maybe waiting an hour for lotto tickets was a good idea. Anyway, I decided to wait until Idaho Falls for my tickets. On my way to the prelims of Miss Idaho's Outstanding Teen I stopped at a gas station, jumped out of the car in my cocktail dress, ran inside, got in the lotto line, and when I got up to the counter I said, "I need $60 worth of tickets!" And the man next to me said, "60?!?" To which I hurried out my story, "Yeah... I live in Utah... no lottery.... everyone at my work wants to win... they sent me with money... I am in Idaho!" He looked confused, but I know I made sense. Anyway, the machine spit out a bunch of random numbers, I had 60 lotto tickets in my hand, and I ran back to the car.

Me holding the 60 lottery tickets so I could send proof to my co-workers...
they wanted to make sure I didn't run away with all their dollars!
Come on people. Where is the trust there days!?

So there I am... Happy as a clam for those few hours with 60 possible winning tickets! After a night of watching pageants, I received a text message with the winning numbers from my co-worker. I scrambled through out tickets. Not a winner in sight. It was a good go though. And plus, my chances with a ticket were higher than my chances without a ticket!

Love,
Deidre

Dear 7 Questions,

4.18.2012

It is time for 7 Questions! (don't mind all the white space... I couldn't get the double spacing to go away... who has two thumbs and actually can't use a computer? This girl!)

This picture is from talent at Miss Idaho 2011... did I realize I made that face when I danced? No... Will I be making it again this year when I dance? No!

1. What is your favorite App? (even if you don't have a smart phone I'm sure you've played around with someone else's)
Insta! Insta! Insta! Obviously my choice is going to be instagram. I am addicted. Love finding a reason to take a picture of everything. And love seeing photos of my friends instead of just a status, it is like I am always there with them... (can we say creepy?) But for realsies. I love Instagram. And so now go find me, my username is deejmbl.

2. You have to come up with a book title on the spot- what is it? (don't think- just say!)
And All the Glory... okay. Not sure where that came from. Actually. Yes I am. Prepare for a little venting and whining, if you don't want it, move to the next question. I compete in pageants. I am getting ready for Miss Idaho. Sometimes I get really frustrated, which I should not, because I feel like girls are competing for the glory. And I get to involved emotionally in what I am doing and what everyone else is doing. Needs. To. Stop. And All the Glory.

3. You are given the choice between laughing at everything- always, or never being able to laugh again. Which would you choose?
Laughing. I feel like I have gotten pretty good at suppressing my laugh to just an internal shake. You know, the kind of shaking you see going on during an awkward prayer (shouldn't your eyes be closed!?) or during a really awkward talk or serious moment. So if I can laugh like I like to laugh, and suppress when I shouldn't be laughing. I am down for the cause.

4. What natural disaster scares you the most? (tornado, hurricane, earthquake, flood, etc)
Earthquake. Maybe because we had an earthquake drill at work yesterday. And it is the only one that I think can actually happen where I live.

5. What time do you wake up each day? What time do you go to sleep?
This is... a difficult question. If I shower in the morning I need to get up by 6:30. But usually I vote to shower at night so I get up at 7:05. And I always try to be asleep by 12... in bed by however long before that I need to watch an episode or three of Toddlers and Tiaras.

6. (question courtesy of Katie) Who's your daddy, and what does he do?
My dad is Mr. Kenneth Dee Edmunds. And he is the best Dad a girl could EVER have. And I am not just saying that because he might read this blog (per my Mother's suggestion), but because I really believe that. At least he is the perfect Dad for me. He works as... whatever he wants! Right now he is doing projects in North Dakota building homes and warehouses. He is also on the Idaho State Board of Education. He does forensic accounting. And he is running for the Northwest Youth Soccer Association President. He is incredibly smart and can remember numbers like it is no one's business. He is honest (no matter what the situation). And he is a hard working and helpful man. And I love him very much!

7. What's the craziest dream you've ever had? (like an actual dream- while you were sleeping)
I never remember my dreams longer than an hour. If I really need to tell someone about a dream they had, they will get a text right when I wake up with a brief summary. If I do that, I can usually remember at least the part they were in. The only dream I can remember is one I had almost every night when I was a little girl. It went like this. Mom went grocery shopping at the "Slip 'n Slide" grocery store. Slipped, slid, and broke her back. Had to go to the hospital. My brothers and I had to use the groceries to pack a picnic and then we went to meet our Dad. We all sat down to eat, and I ate everything and got to my cupcake. Now, did any of you ever have those cupcakes with a clown topper from the grocery store? Well I looked at my clown topper and it was missing so I looked over the hill and these scary clowns were coming at my family. But my family wasn't there. I was all alone and they were coming to kidnap me! But when they got close I would always wake up. Needless to say. I hate clowns. And slip and slide grocery stores.

SEND IN THE CLOWNS! Just kidding. Don't do it.
But you can help a sister out.

Love,
Deidre

Dear AC Unit,

4.17.2012

Okay... so it should be more like dear crushed AC unit... First let me show you what I am talking about.

Crushed. Dented. Squeezed. Squooze. Squeezed. Smashed. Mashed. You get the point, right? Well let me tell you how my mind projects this poor little AC unit became the way it is. And when I say in my mind, I mean how it actually happened because I witnessed it.

LC* says she wants to go to a dollar movie. LC says she will come pick me up but she will call me when she is at my place. My phone rings, it is LC, so I pick it up and say, "On my way out!" And she says she is out back.

I run out, turn the corner and LC gives me a big smile and hops out of her car. And the car starts rolling, rolling, rolling... sheer panic sets across her face. I just sit there with my jaw dropping. LC hops back in her car, but not quick enough, where is the brake, where is park, what to do? You could tell she was so frazzled as she looked for the brake to stop the car from running into anything... Then CRUSHHHHHHHH... and the sound of mental bending. Hit the brake. Just a moment too late.

LC puts the car in park. Looks at me and says, "I seriously do not know what just happened..."

Well LC, let me tell you what just happened. Somehow you forgot the car was in park. And when you got out of the car you didn't realize the car was rolling. I could not say anything when the car started to creep forward because this scene from a movie was happening in front of my eyes... I was shocked. You were shocked. So shocked that you couldn't get back in the car and find the brake fast enough to save this defenseless AC unit. And now we are left with the above photo.

The rest of night all we can say is, "Did that just happen?" and "No one can find out about that..." and "Every apartment is individually owned, so who would we call to inform them that their AC might be broken once it warms up?" Well... let me answer the one question I actually can. Yes, that did just happen. In real life.

Love,
Deidre

Dear Baseball,

4.16.2012

Actually... not any baseball, BYU baseball. And not BYU baseball in general, the players. And not any player, one player specifically... number 22.

Isn't he attractive? Yeah... I think so too. Game tomorrow... let's sweep the Utes!

Dear Movie Monday,

Well... I did get some good things to share this week, but I spent all yesterday taking care of this kid....

Poor thing, sick as a dog. Throughout the day I would ask him "On a scale of 1-10, 1 being dead and 10 being fantastic, how do you feel?" And his response  was six a couple times, but it was usually three or four... So he ate a lot of saltines and drank a lot of Powerade... and Sprite, against his will because I forced him to stay hydrated and eat something. He will thank me later.

And because I spent my Saturday with Mom and Noah, and my Sunday taking care of the boyfriend... I didn't have time to put all those wonderful clips to music... So in light of recent events, I thought for movie Monday I would share a video that I love and appreciate. I think it has a very important message.

Are we looking through a window which needs cleaning? Are we making judgments when we don’t have all the facts? What do we see when we look at others? What judgments do we make about them?
Said the Savior, “Judge not.” 1 He continued, “Why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?” 2 Or, to paraphrase, why beholdest thou what you think is dirty laundry at your neighbor’s house but considerest not the soiled window in your own house?
None of us is perfect. I know of no one who would profess to be so. And yet for some reason, despite our own imperfections, we have a tendency to point out those of others. We make judgments concerning their actions or inactions. There is really no way we can know the heart, the intentions, or the circumstances of someone who might say or do something we find reason to criticize. Thus the commandment: “Judge not.”
– President Thomas S. Monson, “Charity Never Faileth

I know I am not perfect, but that is why I love this movie. It is a good reminder...

This is the easy way out of movie Monday, I slackers attempt... but I will keep rolling around with my camera and you can look forward to some personal videos in the future.

Love,
Deidre

Dear Brain Freeze,

4.12.2012

I guess it isn't really a freeze... It is more like a mind blank. I have been thinking all morning about that I should blog about, but honestly... nothing comes to mind. So instead... here are some random facts for you.

On average, there are 178 sesame seeds on each McDonalds BigMac bun.

The Baby Ruth candy bar was actually named after Grover Cleveland's baby daughter, Ruth.

The three best-known western names in China: Jesus Christ, Richard Nixon, and Elvis Presley.

There are twice as many kangaroos in Australia as there are people. The kangaroo population is estimated at about 40 million.

American car horns beep in the tone of F.

Mary Stuart became Queen of Scotland when she was only six days old.

The plastic things on the end of shoelaces are called aglets.

Kansas state law requires pedestrians crossing the highways at night to wear tail lights.

Those are some good things to learn... Tuck those in your pocket for next time you play Trivial Pursuit. Now what can you teach me today?

Love,
Deidre

Dear Seven Questions,

4.11.2012

HEY PEOPLE! You know what time it is.

1. Would you rather have your life be a constant vacation or always stay home?
Obviously constant vacation. I love to travel. I love to be out and about. I love to explore. And I love adventure and new things. I love my home too, but I could live out of a suitcase forever. All I need is a nice duffel, some travel size toothpaste and shampoo, some easy to wash clothing, and a handsome (ahem... Adam) travel companion. And who says vacation has to be being gone and away from my hometown? Vacation means no work... And that sounds refreshing enough to me!

2. What is your favorite book? (it can be any book! cook book, picture book, whatever!)

My favorite book, without a doubt, is Leadership and Self Deception.  Sound a little weird, right? But it is incredible! It is all about thinking outside of the box and never putting the blame on yourself. It really put me in check with how I think and how I act and how I treat people. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

3. You have to be on a reality tv show- which would you chose?
I would be on A Minute to Win It. That is a reality show, right? The tasks they do to win money are hilarious. And I feel like if I didn't complete enough for money, I would be able to make some good entertainment for all those watching... things like placing a cookie on my head and then using face muscles to get it to my mouth and no hands, tying a pedometer to my head and seeing how high I can make the number by making a bobblehead... If you can't imagine it, look it up. High-Ten-Larious.

4. What is your favorite form of exercise? (running, zumba, step, etc)
Dance. Simply put. I love it.

5. What is one thing that you've never tried but are CONVINCED you hate? (foods, activities, etc)
that would have to be walking on hot coals. Ouchie mama! Just kidding. I would hate that, but let me think of a better one. Alright... this may or may not offend people but, I have never seen any Lord of the Rings movies... and I am convinced I hate them. Too long, toooooo long. And not my genre of a good time. You are now invited to try and convince me otherwise.

6. Do you have any hidden talents?
Do you ever watch SNL? Okay... well if you do you might have heard of Penelope. My secret and hidden talent is that I can do a pretty mean (aka. good) impression of Miss One-Upper Penelope. A lot of practice and a lot of hair twirling, but I can finally do it! Annnnnnnd.... I am probably a little bit better at it than you... my hair is a longer and twirls a little faster.

7. What's the best prank you've ever pulled?
Best prank ever? Let me think... my freshman year of college we were all about the pranks. We did all sorts of things... put people's deodorant in jello, put beds into the bathroom, shoot water ballons out our window into the quad, turn people's room into the Chokie, super glue doors shut... best prank though.... My best prank that I can think of right now involved an egg, some fishing line, and a black marker... So we took the raw egg, colored it black as the night, attached a long long long piece of fishing line to it, tied the fishing line to a pole on both sides of the road at night... can you picture this? Egg was black as the night and it was night, so it blended right in. The egg was tied right at windshield level. So when the next car drive up they ran RIGHT into the egg. Came out of no where. Maybe scared them a little, and maybe was a hazard... but hearing that egg splat was hilarious to my 18 year old mind.

What else would like you like to know? I am feeling like being an open book today.

Love.

Dear Claw Hand,

4.10.2012

There is this strange thing going on with my hands... but only when I place it on my hip. Ya know, the pageant pose? Oh, you don't know what I mean by pageant pose? Think knee popped, the front hand on the hip, the back hand on the seam, S-curved body, big smile. That is the pageant pose. Well overtime my hand on hip has turned into claw on hip. And as I look through all my pictures I am starting to realize this is not a new thing. It was a slow transition from simple claw to almost a lobster claw.

1. Summer 2011: My nephews baptism.
Slightly broken wrist with the pinky straying away from the rest.
2. January 2012: Miss America.
Pinky still straying but so is the index finger.
3. March 2012: Miss Idaho Orientation and MIOT.
Fingers all separated, apparently they had a fight. Pinky starting to bend.
4. March 2012 (a week later): BYU vs Utah Baseball Game.
Fingers all separated and bent... ready to attack.

Do you see what I have become!? A full fledged lobster hand! How did this happen? How can I fix it? It must be fixed. And fast. Think pretty hands Deidre, pretty hands! Fingers straight and close together... Don't fall victim to the claw!

Deidre

Dear Movie Monday,

4.09.2012

After an Easter weekend with my family it was easy to put this little diddy together. I hope you think my nephews and niece are as cute as I do!

Dear Easter Bunny,

While I really appreciate and love the Easter basket with all the fun things but... We both know I am on a diet. Yes, I loved the mustache ring (pictures coming soon... or watch my Easter movie to be posted for movie Monday) and coral ring, I loved the fun hair tie, I loved the kites.... but the following items are not going to help me on my road to Miss Idaho....

So I ate some yesterday... I mean, holiday cheer, gotta do it. But now I am bagging all these treats up and giving them to Adam (Dear Adam, please be reasonable and hide the candy from me unless I am having a REALLY bad day. Thanks.) to keep and guard until June 10th.

Once again Bunny, THANK you for the basket... and a diet on Easter will not be happening.

Love,
Deidre

Dear USGA,

4.06.2012

Thank you for sharing this video with the world. This movie is, put simply, beautiful. I admire these students for putting themselves out there and being vulnerable. There is so much more to life than judging people by how they act, what they believe, or what they look like. A person is a person, no matter what. And Heavenly Father loves the person you are.

I am proud to be a BYU Graduate.

Dear Weekday Outfits,

Well I got a really nice compliment from a lady at my work last week. She said to me, "Deidre, where do you shop? I love the way you dress!" I quickly rambled off where everything I was wearing was from, and she was impressed that I could name it all... so I got to thinking... maybe I will post my weekday outfits all in one post. I am not much for having someone take a photo of my outfit everyday and posting it in detail, but a quick summary might be nice. Also, don't mind my messy room or blue phone... I don't have any photographer friends that I can call just to ask them to photograph me. So I took a picture of myself in the mirror each morning before heading to work! This will improve overtime (I hope) but here are my outfits for this week!

Monday
Cardigan: Target(Mossimo) - Sweater:  Forever 21 - Pants: Gap - Shoes: Target
Tuesday
Blazer: Forever 21 - Sequin top: TJMaxx - Jeans: Gap - Heels: Shoe Carnival
Wednesday
Jacket: Gap - Undershirt: Downeast Basics - Lace shirt: Downeast Basics - Pants: TJMaxx - Shoes: Target
Thursday
Top :LaBelle Boutique - Pants: Gap - Heels: Shoe Carnival
Friday
Cardigan: Gap - Dress: Target - Leggings: Target - Socks: Forever 21 - Boots: Forever Young Shoes

So there you have it! My outfits summed up, I don't shop somewhere unless I can find some sort of deal... so you will be seeing mostly items from average stores and clearance racks. But once and awhile, if it is an item I have been looking for forever I will splurge.

Love,
Deidre

Dear Giggles,

4.05.2012

I used to be funny, I really did.... I used to write letters to objects that brought laughter and joy to all those who read. I don't know what is going on with me these days, but my jokes are not up to par. I find myself laughing at my jokes more than anyone around me.... you know, that awkward moment when no one laughs so I fill in the void with my own hysterics? It is not a pretty sight (sound) people! Trust me on that one. And now all I have left are my memories of my funny days... Maybe what I need is some best friend Sarah to put the silly back in me?

Where did my funny bone go? If found, please return.

Dear 7 Questions,

4.04.2012

It is time for a little...

We start with an embarrassing photo, but actually not that embarrassing since it is on Facebook... and has probably been sent to a lot of people. These faces are typical. Welcome to a Sunday afternoon with Adam and me.

1. If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
Super cliche and same as most, but to fly. How awesome would that be? Just cruising around with the wind in my hair.

2. If you could hold the world record for something, what would it be for and why?
Obviously I would choose baking the world's largest pie. Jokes, but that would be cool. If I could hold the world record for anything it would be for largest collection of fortune cookie fortunes. Is that weird, or what? I keep any and all fortunes I can find and put them in a box. A bizarre collection? You bet!

3. What is the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?
That would have to be.... oh my gosh I have eaten way too many weird things... let me list a few. Fish eggs (that I got out of the fish myself, thank you high school science class), cow jaw, a tulip, chicken heart, octopus, alligator, the plants in Tomorrowland at Disneyland...

4. Where would you hide something if you didn't want it to be found?
I always hide things I don't want found in my underwear drawer... because what person really wants to go dig through someone else's underwear. But I guess now that I told you that I need a new hiding place.

5. What is one of your Spring and/ or Easter traditions?
My favorite Easter tradition is the Easter bunny. I am so excited to finally be that bunny this year! I love giving gifts. And my favorite Spring tradition would have to be Sunday afternoon naps out in the sun, just lazing on the grass.

6. Would you rather have to make all of your own clothes (including patterns), cook dinner from scratch every night, or walk everywhere you wanted to go?
I would definitely pick cooking dinner from scratch every single night. I have started to love cooking this year. Not only because I am doing it more and learning fun new recipes from all my newlywed besties, But because I actually have someone to cook for now. And he appreciates my food no matter how burnt, overcooked, or actually decent it is.

7. What is your most embarrassing moment? I know, big one.
Okay... this is weird. And I will be honest, I do not share my MOST MOST MOST embarrassing moment with anyone. So if you really want to know it you will have to comment, write me an email, tweet at me, or something... and if you ask really nice or cleverly, I will tell you. Which means I probably wont have to tell anyone because I know no one will follow up. So my next most embarrassing moment. When I was younger my family would all do yard work together when it got warm, but lets be honest, I am the youngest and the only girl... and I was slightly (my Dad would say extremely) lazy when it came to yard work. So my brothers were weeding and I was to rake up all the weeds and throw them away. While I was waiting for enough weeds to accumulate I was stepping on the rake and catching it with my hand. Can you see where this is going? Well just stepping and catching was getting boring so I decided to see how fast I could move my hand up from the side of my body to catch the rake... and I missed. The rake hit me straight in the face. Hard. And I was left with a giant goose egg and almost instantaneous black eye under my right eye. Awesome...

Deidre
