Put A Peplum In Your Step

I know, I know, peplums are scary! Who needs all that extra fabric around the hips? You've seen them everywhere this season and I'm here to tell you that the right peplum can actually make you look thinner.

WHAT?!?

Yep. The right peplum with the right proportions can actually transform you from a mushroom/oompa loompa, into a towering Grecian goddess. Just follow these rules:

1. Choose a soft material in a silhouette that isn't too extreme, so the look is more modern, less Mad Men.

2. Whatever you wear below the pouf should be streamlined: a pencil skirt or tapered pants. Are you like guacamole and a little extra? Add a thigh-high boot to give you legs for days!

3. Choose the right length for your torso - the peplum should start about 2 inches above the belly button.

4.Accessorize with a chunky necklace and a sleek clutch to make this look your own!

OR, you can take the easy way out and grab yourself the peplum below. It solves all problems...(well, the fashion related ones) and comes in 3 colors!

I love the lace detailing on this peplum! It takes it up a notch and definitely makes the whole look a bit more flirty and feminine! Also, a basic black clutch is pretty much a wardrobe basic. If you don't have one, you can typically pick up a quality leather one on sale at Nordstroms or any other department retailer. Looking for other chunky or statement necklaces? Check out the one I wore HERE.

Another wardrobe staple? Black leggings. The right ones (like these from Lulu) will add just the right amount of comfort and classic style. These should be a part of any fall/winter wardrobe as they are perfect for layering, lounging, and letting your legs show (but still keeping you warm!) So put a peplum in your step (see what I did there?) and grab yourself this look!
